Getting Ready for Dunkirk!

Having given superb service by providing a unique opportunity for members to train in off-shore small ship handling, navigation and operation, MVS Appleby went for a survey and bottom scrap in March of this year in readiness to escort the little ships across for 70th commemoration of the Dunkirk evacuation.

Thorne and Humber Units to Merge

At the MVS Thorne AGM last night it was decided to merge MVS Thorne Unit into the new MVS Humber Unit based at the Sea Cadet Unit at Scunthorpe. As some will recall MVS Grimsby was also merged into MVS Humber. The Thorne members will transfer to the new MVS Humber Unit. 

MVS Appleby Training Day

Brilliant sunrise, blue sky, blue sea and freezing; that was how it dawned as Appleby edged her way out from Gosport into the Solent for a day run. Around a dozen MVS members had signed up for the training day.
